Ubuntu Server development summary – 31 July 2018

The purpose of this communication is to provide a status update and highlights for any interesting subjects from the Ubuntu Server Team. Spotlight: Ubuntu Bionic 18.04.1 and new ISO

Along with the first point release of Ubuntu Bionic (18.04.1), the Ubuntu Server installer was updated. It now carries additional configuration support for: LVM, RAID, VLANs, and bonds.

There is a call for testing for these features in Ubuntu. Josh Powers on Canonical’s ubuntu server team has a blog post explaining with details about the new installer features.

cloud-init

  • New commits landed on cloud-init tip:
  • oracle: fix detect_openstack to report True on OracleCloud.com DMI data (LP: #1784685)
  • tests: improve LXDInstance trying to workaround or catch bug.
  • update_metadata re-config on every boot comments and tests not quite right [Mike Gerdts]
  • SRU regression fix published to Xenial and Bionic proposed:
  • oracle: fix detect_openstack to report True on OracleCloud.com DMI data (LP: #1784685)
  • New release to Ubuntu Cosmic (18.3-18-g3cee0bf8) containing all the above commits

curtin

  • clear-holders: reread ptable after wiping disks with partitions
